Struggling Father desirous to see his Son - 6
My Dearest Beta Shanu,
Happy Lohri! Beta Lohri is one of the holiest festivals of India and celebrated wholeheartedly in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Himachal Pradesh. Since I was born in Punjab, I used to really enjoy Holi celebrations. Your Dadaji and Dadiji use to take me to every evening to the central place in Chandigarh where there use to be a great bon-fire. Everybody greets each other and sweets made up of sesame are exchanged. Kids as small as you are gather in small groups and approach as many houses as they can in the night and they ask for Lohri. Its great fun and very similar to the Halloween festival in United States of America. Everybody sings the famous “Lohri” song especially Kids, I’m narrating it below:
‘’
Sunder mundriye ho!
Tera kaun vicharaa ho!
Dullah bhatti walla ho!
Dullhe di dhee vyayae ho!
Ser shakkar payee ho!
Kudi da laal pathaka ho!
Kudi da saalu paatta ho!
Salu kaun samete!
Zamindaar sudhaye!
Bade bhole aaye!
Ek bhola reh gaya!
Sipahee pakad
Ke lai gaya!
Sipahee ne mare eet!
Sanoo de de lohri!
Te teri jeeva jodi !
Phannve ro te
Phannve pit !
‘’

For dear Dr. K. Shahi and his family-
{
Dear Dr. K. Shahi, please take the color printoust of the attached .jpg files having the artwork. Also kindly read the words of letter ‘H’ to him. I’m sure he remembers all the words provided your family in Kanpur is continuously dedicating some “quality time” to him. Did my son have his hair-cut? He has not done it without me or my father’s presence. Please make sure that the barber is decent and has all the equipments which are hygienic. Did my son have his polio vaccine? Who is giving him the oil massage now as I used to do it always? Please give him sweets or patti made up of ‘white til’ and ‘gud’. Please also give him at least 10 cashews twice a day in winters. Do you provide him tomato soup at least once a day or not? Are you giving him amla in winters? Please at least acknowledge and convey his health and whereabouts to me. Please provide him a hot bath and on the auspicious occasion of Makarsankranti, kindly provide him some sweets made up of sesame seeds. Also your hostility towards me or my parents will always be returned by me with love without deviating from my principles. Thanks.
}
I will perform all the rituals and prayers for both of us. May all your worries be charred like the sesame seeds in the holy fire, and that is left is the warmth. Love and God bless you my angel! Happy Makarsankranti.and Pongal.
Your Father
Ravi
