Christmas

My Dearest Sanidhya,

Another Christmas has come and gone, time briefly stopped for me but it was again an illusion. I again saw you in my dreams in various places from the dancing snowfalls we relished together in Oregon when you were tightly wrapped in warmth of wool and my heart to ravishing freshness of fog in India when you were clouded on my shoulders chewing mishree brought by Dadaji. We were happy and laughing together in our own world and in our tales and in our laughter, unaware of future and its miseries and its own complexities which neither I understood nor you will understand.
Before we understand my dearest Sanidhya, why we celebrate Christmas “remember X for X’mas tree” below is a tiny poem for you:

May you walk among the stars of morning,
Eden waiting silent for the dawn,
Ready to unravel without warning,
Restless with the energy and tiny feet on green grass without thorn,
Years of longing pale into beauty;
Christmas is a never-realized dream.
However much devoted to your duty,
Remember that the flow is not the stream.
In my heart you wear a crown of glory
So radiant that time must turn away.
The vision rises from the untold story
More lovely than what sees the light of day.
As you can never know just who you are,
So let my love become your eastern star.

Now lets understand why we celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is celebrated all over the world on the 25 December. Christmas is a Christian holy day that marks the birth of Jesus, the son of God.

Jesus was born to a woman called Mary who was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. Mary was visited by an angel who brought the message that she would give birth to God's son. Three wise men followed a star that led them to Jesus' birthplace and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Shepherds were led to Bethlehem (place of birth of Jesus) by an angel. Joseph and Mary travelled to Bethlehem shortly before Jesus' birth. Joseph had been ordered to take part in a census in his home town of Bethlehem. All Jewish people had to be counted so the Roman Emperor could determine how much money to collect from them in tax. Those who had moved away from their family homes, like Joseph, had to return to have their names entered in the Roman records. Joseph and Mary set off on the long, arduous 90-mile journey from Nazareth along the valley of the River Jordan, past Jerusalem to Bethlehem. Mary traveled on a donkey to conserve her energy for the birth. But when they arrived in Bethlehem the local inn was already full with people returning for the census. The innkeeper let them stay in the rock cave below his house which was used as a stable for his animals. It was here, next to the noise and filth of the animals, that Mary gave birth to her son and laid him in a manger. And this is why the world celebrates the Christmas. Christmas remains a time to forget about the long dark days and celebrate with friends and family. But maybe the last statement is not true for you and me but it will be realized in true sense one day and below is another poem which symbolizes this hope.

Myths are hopes refracted through our pain:
Each ray of justice bends into a bow
Resplendent, pure, symmetrical and sane,
Resolving into grace the world we know.
Yes, God walked among us out of love;
Christ suffered horribly that we might live;
His holy spirit watches, as a dove
Remains aloft, to witness and forgive.
In love the earth returns a special fire:
Sapphires linger in disheveled grass;
The snow burns eagerly; the blood runs higher;
Mountains melt into astonished brass.
All who love revere this sacred art,
Stunned and weeping at joy's battered heart.

So in-spite of our constraints enjoy Christmas time as Christmas is a time for love and fun. So laugh, run, jump, paint, draw, create, play and play and play so that not only you but the joy out of heart and your gala laughter purifies the air surrounding you and brings happiness to everyone. Here is another poem to rejoice the Christmas time:

Christmas is a time for love and fun,
A time to reshape souls and roots and skies,
A time to give your heart to everyone

Freely, like a rich and lavish sun,
Like a burning star to those whose lonely sighs
Show need of such a time for love and fun.

For children first, whose pain is never done,
Whose bright white fire of anguish never dies,
It's time to give your heart to every one,

That not one angel fall, to hatred won
For lack of ears to listen to her cries,
Or arms to carry him towards love and fun,

Or friends to care what happens on the run
To adult life, where joy or sadness lies.
It's time to give your heart to everyone,

For God loves all, and turns His back on none,
Good or twisted, ignorant or wise.
Christmas is a time for love and fun,
A time to give your heart to everyone.

May Christmas time bring all the bliss of the universe to your kind soul. As always I believe and wish, may mine and your Dadaji’s and Dadiji’s prayers for you reach you, protect you and fulfill your body and soul with bliss. My God who is my Lord will be with you as your savior, protector and director. He will help you to accomplish what you are destined and will bring prosperity to you and bliss to your soul.

Merry Christmas,

Om!

Your Father,

Ravi
