Struggling Father desirous to see his Son - 22

My Dearest Beta Shanu,

May lord Shiva bless you on this auspicious and very sacred day of Maha Shivaratri. Dearest Beta, on this occasion of Maha Shivaratri people worship Shiva, the god who wears the crescent moon as an adornment in his hair.

Today I will tell you stories of Shiva. Lets start with mantra meditation and recitation as we use to do together –

“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”
“Om Namaha Shivaya”

The story goes like this:

Once upon a time there lived a king named Bhagirath. He left his kingdom to mediate for the salvation of the souls of his ancestors. He requested Lord Brahma to let river Ganga come from heaven to earth. He wanted her to wash over the ashes of his ancestors. Brahma granted him the wish but asked him to pray to Shiva, who alone can sustain the weight and flow of river Ganga during her descent to earth. Accordingly, Ganga descended on Shiva’s head, and after meandering through his thick matted locks, reached the earth.

There is another famous story:

Once Brahma and Vishnu wee fighting over who is superior of the two. Horrified at the intensity of the battle between the two, the other Gods requested Lord Shiva to intervene. To make them understand the futility of their fight, Shiva assumed the form of huge column of fire between the Brahma and Vishnu. Awestruck by the magnitude of the fire, they decided to find the one end each to establish the supremacy over each other. Brahma assumed the form of swan and went upwards and Vishnu as Varaha went into the earth. Nevertheless light has no limit and though they searched for thousands of miles neither could find the end. On his journey upwards, Brahma came across a ketaki flower wafting down slowly. When asked where she has come from, the ketaki replied that she has been kept on the top of the fiery column as a offering. Unable to find the uppermost limit, Brahma dishonestly ended his search and took ketaki flower as a witness. At this the angry Shiva revealed his true from. He punished Brahma for telling a lie.

May Lord Shiva always be with you and protect you. I will always pray and meditate for your welfare and happiness. My angel, may you always prosper, may God always offer a playground of love and nectar of bliss to you. My “Krishnu”, always say your prayers as you use to do when both of us were together. “Shivaya Namaah” and may God Shiva fulfill my desire to meet and be united with you.

Your Father
Ravi
