Struggling Father desirous to see his Son - 21
My Dearest Beta Shanu,
How did you like the pictures of crocodile and kangaroo which I sent you in my previous letter? Did you like the story also? Beta, I want to share my feelings with you and play with you but can’t, as even some hope of my letters being read to you will evaporate. I’m living in a hope that at least my messages are reaching you and you are getting humane treatment. I pray and hope that almighty will definitely unite us one day; I hope it will be sooner, when both of us will be together in sunshine with you sitting on my shoulders and we will run and run and run …. Do you remember how we use to run after rainbow? Hope we see that again….
Do you recognize the photos of the animal which I have sent with this letter, It’s a LION, KHARRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Yes! L for Lion.
You know beta, Lions belong to the family of big cats. Lions are found in Africa and India. Cousins of lions are tigers, jaguars, cougars, leopards and cheetah.
Tigers live in India and Siberia.
Jaguars are found in jungles from Mexico to South America.
Cougars, or mountain lions, are found in the mountains of North America as well as Central and South America.
Like all relatives, these big cat cousins have much in common. For example, they are all predators, which mean they hunt and kill other animals for food. They also have sharp claws and teeth, strong bodies, and keen eyesight.
Lions live in family groups. The family groups are called prides. Lions have strong bodies, but males are larger and heavier than females. They are also different in another way: Males have a mane, hair around their head and neck.
Lions live in the grassy plains of Africa, a habitat also preferred by another big cat-the cheetah. Unlike lions, cheetahs usually live alone.

Today I will narrate you a small story from Jataka. This is a story of a deer and king. Dearest beta here is the story:
“
Once upon a time, there lived a king. He was fond of hunting. Everyday after the court, he would pick up his bow and arrows and venture deep into the forest. His men, armed with weapons, would follow him.
For hours and hours, the king would chase his hunt through the forest. On one such occasion, the king and his men reached a vast ground not so dense. It was afternoon. “Lets rest here for a while,” said the king.
Suddenly king saw a deer that had come there for grazing. The king took his bow and arrow and aimed at deer. “TWANG” came the sound of bowstring and the arrow sailed towards the deer. But the deer heard it and managed to escape. The king’s men caught hold of their weapons to hunt down the deer. “NO! That’s my catch. I alone shall go after it, “the king ordered. So he set out after the deer. Fast ran the king, but the deer ran much faster.
Soon the king became tired of chasing. The deer has led him deep into the forest. The king had lost his way and was tired. Suddenly his feet landed into a swamp. “Aaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeee” cried the king as he lost his grip on the bow and arrow.
The deer heard the cries of the king, and came for his help. He lowered his head and asked king to hold his antlers tight. King did as told by the deer and then deer move few steps backwards and he pulled the king out.
Thus the deer saved king’s life. King thanked him and never hunted again.
HA! HA! HA!
