My Dearest Beta Shanu,

How did you like the pictures of crocodile, kangaroo and lion which I sent you in my previous letter? Did you like the story also?
Did you recognize the photos of the animal which I have sent with this letter, It’s a CHEETAH, KHARRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Yes! C for CHEETAH.
Now continuing our series of learning more about the big cats, today we will learn and have fun with cheetah.
Cheetahs move great distances following herds of antelope, sheep, and other animals. They hunt alone, hiding in the tall grass. When a prey animal gets close, the cheetah makes a lightning dash. These big cats can run faster than any animal on the land. They can zoom faster than a car!
Cheetahs have long, lean bodies with powerful shoulders and legs. Its spotted coat blends with the tall grasses of its habitat. Another big cat, the leopard, also has a spotted coat. But some leopards, called black panthers, have solid black coats. All adult leopards live alone.

Today I will narrate you a small story from Jataka. This is a story of a pigeon, elephant and deer. Yes Shanu beta, so many animals. Dearest beta here is the story, please enjoy:
“
There once lived a pigeon, a monkey, and an elephant. Deep inside the forest, a huge banyan tree was their home. The pigeon lived in a hollow in the tree. The monkey lived on the tree. Elephant use to live under the tree.
Pigeon, a monkey, and elephant, were very good friends and use to play, eat and roam together. Days and nights were full of fun. But at times they use to differ in opinion. And then the three will quarrel. One day pigeon said, “We are friends, but it’s natural to disagree sometimes. All we have to mind is that our arguments do not become too bad.” “Hmm there should be someone to resolve our disputes wisely, “nodded the elephant.
At last, they decided to choose the leader among themselves. But who shall be the leader? That was the question now. “Let the oldest be the leader, “proposed the monkey. “That’s fine, but how do we know that who is the oldest?” asked the elephant.
So they finally decided that each one of them will try to remember the oldest memory of the banyan tree and based on the oldest description of the tree the leader will be decided.
Monkey said that he has seen banyan tree when it was very young and the stem was light brownish.
Elephant narrated that his oldest memory is that the tree was a small plant with green stem and light green, very small leaves.
Now it was pigeon’s turn. With the serene smile on his face, the pigeon started recalling,” I was born in the nearby forest on a banyan tree. When I was young, I flew down to this forest. Along with me I had brought some seeds of the banyan tree. I scattered them here and thus sprang up this banyan tree, which is our home today.”
The elephant and monkey were listening very attentively to the pigeon. They cheered, “ We accept your wisdom and praise you for having brought this banyan tree into existence. Because of you today we have a shelter so lovely and peaceful.”
And from that day, they declared pigeon as their leader. The three friends never quarreled among each other. Now they have a wise friend to solve their confusions and guide them.
HA! HA! HA!
