My Dearest Beta Shanu,
It’s raining like anything over here. Is it raining where you are? Dearest son, notice the rains and how it cleans the nature and provides a fresh nourishment and energy to all. You may notice a rainbow also. Remember we use to see the rainbow standing on the small wood bridge, and how you use to run behind it to catch it, with your little legs and tiny feet. Your small fingers pointing towards the rainbow and saying “Papa! Papa! Rainbow! Rainbow…” These several and every moment with you will inspire me and I will live to live these moments again and again … I hope and I pray.
Continuing on our storytelling journey, here is today’s stooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Beta today’s story is taken from the famous folk tales of fables. This is story of a North Wind and Sun. Enjoy!
“
One day, a long time ago, the North wind was in a very happy mood. The winter had been long and cold and the north wind was very proud of himself. “I have been able to keep the whole world frozen. I’m the most powerful force on the earth. Nothing can be stronger,” he boasted to himself.
After sometime Sun got little tired of North wind boastings. He peeped out of the dark clouds and called out to the North wind. “It is not good for a powerful force like to be proud as we all are doing our job only”, said the Sun.
But the north wind was too proud to listen to Sun. “You are saying this because you are not as strong as I am. I can do anything on this earth,” claimed proudly the north wind.
The Sun corrected the north wind, “North wind we all can do only certain things. Proudness is not a good quality for a powerful force like you. I can easily prove that you are also limited to fulfilling certain tasks only.” The north wind laughed and challenged Sun to show a single thing which north wind cannot do.
The Sun looked down. There was a man who was walking with winter clothes and his coat tightly warped around his body because it was very cold.
The Sun had an idea and said to North wind, “The man walking down there has his coat warped around his body, if you can force him to remove his coat, I will accept that you are the strongest force and can do every task possible.”
The north wind smiled and gladly accepted the task. The north wind thought that it is such a simple and easy task. North wind blew wildly and very coldly at the man walking on the road.
But the stronger the wind blew the tighter man wrapped the coat around him. North wind tried but in vain so in the last he gave up and challenged Sun that if he can perform the same task.
The Sun shone brightly. The man felt very hot. “What a funny weather, “ he muttered to himself, “ Just a while back it was bitterly cold, but now it is very warm.” The Sun shone even brighter. The man felt even hotter.
He took off his coat and covered his head. The Sun shone even fiercely. The man immediately took all his garment off.
The North Wind who had seen all this, was humbled and he accepted defeat. From then on, the North Wind stopped being proud and only did his duty.
HA! HA! HA!
